The goal of the Occupational Safety Program is to ensure a safe and healthy working and learning environment that is free from all hazards for our faculty, students, staff, visitors, and contract employees. This is accomplished through:

  • Continuous education of faculty, staff, and students on the identification and avoidance of hazards
  • Taking a proactive approach on the identification and mitigation of unsafe work practices or areas, and including safety as a key element in the construction or renovation of buildings and property
  • Working with our partners in Risk Management Services to better understand injuries in order to prevent future occurrences.

The Occupational Safety Plan is the reference manual for guidance on how we accomplish our goal through the policy administration and program application. The plan is applicable to all areas of the UNT Campuses and represents only general minimum standards.
