Environmental Health and Safety, housed within Risk Management Services, supports UNT programs and operations that may affect water, land, air, workplace safety, and campus health. The program helps the university meet regulatory requirements, reduce environmental impacts, prevent injuries, and manage hazardous materials safely.

Environmental Health and Safety provides guidance for academic, research, and operational activities involving biological, chemical, radiological, environmental, occupational, and public health hazards. Program areas include biosafety, laboratory safety, hazardous materials management, environmental compliance, occupational safety, indoor air quality, asbestos management, public health and safety, and related safety training.

The Environmental Health and Safety team works with faculty, staff, students, and campus organizations through training, consultation, inspections, incident review, hazard assessments, and program support. The team also supports UNT’s broader environmental and sustainability goals by helping departments identify practical ways to reduce risk and maintain compliance.
