Bloodborne Pathogens Program

The Bloodborne Pathogens Program helps protect UNT employees who may be exposed to human blood, other potentially infectious materials, or regulated medical waste during their work.

Employees with reasonably anticipated occupational exposure must complete Bloodborne Pathogens training when assigned to covered duties and at least annually thereafter. Training supports compliance with the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard, 29 CFR 1910.1030, and the UNT Exposure Control Plan.

The program provides resources to help employees recognize exposure risks, use engineering and work practice controls, select and use personal protective equipment, respond to exposure incidents, and safely handle or dispose of biohazardous materials. Employees with occupational exposure are also offered the hepatitis B vaccination series at no cost.
